Words I didn't know.

The following are four words that I heard for the first time in 2003.

maenad: a woman participant in orgiastic Dionysian rites

florilegium: a volume of writings

absquatulate: to make off, decamp, or abscond

maieutic: relating to or resembling the Socratic method of eliciting new ideas from another

If I were a real blogger, I would attempt to win cleverness bonus points by using all four words in a single sentence. But that would be too predictable.
