[3/21/06 edit: I was reminded of Cahun by finding a clipping of a June 1993 Manchester Guardian Weekly review by Roland Jaccard of a then-recent book, a review that I first noticed probably because because of its headline ("A Punk Before Her Time"), and that ended with this quote:

When the Surrealists asked her: "For whom do you write?"

she answered: "One should write against those who can read."
